GENERAL
Q- How do I pay for this enclosure?A- We accept Visa, Mastercard, certified cheque or money order payable to Habitat Haven, The Cat's Den.
Q- How long does it take for shipping?
A- Shipping usually takes 4 to 6 weeks within continental North America. You will receive an email confirmation that the order has been sent. If shipping is delayed beyond 6 weeks, you will be informed.
Q- Can I come to your shop and see some of the enclosures?
A- We do like people to view our facility but by appointment only. Please call us toll-free at 1-866-484-0644 to arrange a time.
Q- How much maintenance is required?
A- There is virtually no maintenance required for your enclosure. The galvanized steel mesh doesn't rust. If you chose cedar wood for floors and perches, it weathers naturally and resists rot. The plastic wood is care-free. We recommend you grease the hinge pins on the two door hinges once a year with bicycle grease. DO NOT USE WD40.
Q- Would I be able to come by and pick up my enclosure?
A- Pick-ups are always welcome but by appointment only.
Q- Can I install the enclosure by myself?
A- Yes, but we recommend that there be at least two people to install the enclosure.
Q- After placing an order, if I decide that I do not want to purchase the enclosure, can I cancel the order?
A- Yes, on the seven pre-packaged kits only. There is a $50.00 administration fee for cancellations after the order has been placed. In all other cases, all sales are final.
Q- Is there someone in my area who can install the enclosure?
A- At the moment we are able to install in the Greater Toronto Area, Niagara and Hamilton areas. We are expanding our network of installers to cover each province and state. To enquire about becoming an installer, please contact us at info@habitathaven.com.
Q- I live close to the sea; do I need to worry about rust?
A- Salt air does corrode the steel faster so we recommend having your enclosure powder coated to extend its life.
DOGS
Q- My Scottie weighs 24 pounds. Will this enclosure work for him?A- Yes, if he stands no more than 12" at the shoulder (30.5cm). Our enclosure system is suitable for multiple pets. We only mention weight in light of predator birds that might pose a risk to your dog. We have tested our enclosure system to ensure that small dogs of that size can turn around easily in the tunnels.
CATS
Q- How long will it take for my cat to get used to the enclosure?A- All cats are different but it normally takes about one week.
Q- Can there be access doors on the tunnels?
A- Custom tunnels with access doors can be ordered by request only.
Q- My cat weighs 22 pounds. Will this enclosure work for her?
A- Yes. Our enclosure system is suitable for multiple pets. We only mention weight in light of predator birds that might pose a risk to your cat. We have tested our enclosure system to ensure cats of that size can both turn around and also pass other cats in the tunnels.
Q- Is it true that it's against the law for my cat to walk across someone else's yard?
A- Yes, many locales have passed legislation restricting cats from roaming free. These include counties all across the US from California to Massachusetts, and municipalities in Canada from Alberta to Nova Scotia.
BIRDS
Q- Can I put my birds outside in this enclosure?A- Yes, although opinion is divided on this question (as is the case for different types of pets). If you choose to put your birds in an enclosure outdoors, you should never leave them unsupervised for any length of time.
OTHER PETS
Q- Are there leash laws for ferrets?A- Yes, locales in the US have passed legislation restricting not only dogs and cats but also ferrets from roaming free.
