Hi Kris,
It all began when Rio my baby blue and gold macaw turned 6 month and outgrow the biggest standard macaw cage I could find in the pet industry:-I was looking at option to buy or custom make a suitable cage for him, but could not find any.
Then when getting to the point of almost combining two big cages together like my partner and I did for some of our other birds I remembered a brochure I brought home from work and checked out the cat's den site. Kris was fast to contact me back and had some valuable knowledge about what should be done for birds.
Today most of my birds are in cat's den cages which were custom made to fit both my place and the unique needs of my birds cages that enable me to give the most space for the birds while still having (some.) space for myself. The cages are durable, easy to clean and pleasant to look at. Both the birds and us enjoy them very much- other "bird nerd" friends of mine are joules and impressed.
Today my birds enjoy the space they deserve, in bigger cages then before and for the first time after spending a lot of money on useless cages in the past I got for a fragment of the price to design cages that would fit my needs. If only I had known about Kris's amazing work a number of years ago...
